Catholic University in Erbil organized one day training on firefighting

On Monday November 27, Catholic University in Erbil (CUE) held a one-day seminar about fire prevention and firefighting tactics. The seminar was presented by Mr. Rebwar Abdul Majeed from Civil Defense Directorate of Erbil City and it consisted of both theoretical and practical application of firefighting.

In the first session, Mr. Rebwar explained about fire triangle which illustrates the three elements a fire needs to ignite: heat, fuel, and an oxidizing agent (usually oxygen). Mr. Rebwar also explained how to prevent fire caused by electricity, in petrol stations, in the kitchen while cooking and fire caused by the use of electrical appliances.

In the second part of the training, Mr. Rebwar talked about the different types of fire extinguishers and their uses and then presented how to use fire extinguisher to fight a fire.

Mr. Rebwar also toured CUE to see the campus’s firefighting and fire prevention systems.
