CUE Host Genocide Prevention Workshop

The US University of Stockton’s Genocide Prevention Certificate Program held a very successful Genocide Prevention workshop at the Catholic University in Erbil, Iraq on January 13 and 14, 2017. Over 50 people were in attendance from the government and civil society sectors.

The workshop was in collaboration with other genocide prevention groups and organizations, including Shlomo Organization for Documentation, which is working to document ISIS crimes against Christians in Iraq, the International Association of Genocide Scholars (IAGS) USA and Genocide Watch. The workshop discussed how different countries have faced genocide and new strategies to prevent it. Close to home were the experiences and sufferings of Muslims, Chaldeans, Syriacs, Assyrians, Yazidis and Shabak in Iraq.
