Jesuit Worldwide Learning: Higher Education at the Margins and Catholic University in Erbil seek to hire Learning Site Coordinator in Erbil

Key Purpose

To understand, support and engage in the twin missions of Jesuit Worldwide Learning: Higher Education at the Margins (JWL) and the Catholic University in Erbil (CUE). The JWL Learning Site Coordinator (SC) works collaboratively as part of both the CUE and JWL teams to implement JWL’s online degree programme from the CUE campus in Ankawa. The SC is expected to maintain constructive relationships with partner organizations, stakeholders, populations served, and members of the JWL & CUE teams. She/he must also maintain daily communication by email, whatsapp, and Skye with JWL’s international systems support and academic teams, remote Diploma course instructors, Erbil students, and any additional project staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise the online learning process and academic performance of up to 100 students per year, creating local interventions to support students academically, socially, and technically towards the completion of the three-year Diploma programme
  • Continually develop and maintain an effective learning environment for students and provide necessary learning materials and other resources, as well as planning for long-term changes to improve outcomes for students
  • Coordinate the Diploma programme admissions process once per year by collaborating with various organizations and marginalized populations throughout Erbil
  • Contribute to the quality and outcomes of the JWL Diploma programme in Erbil, providing leadership on the strategic direction of the project and of all programmes potentially offered
  • Project management inclusive of meeting timelines, engagement in quality assurance, written reports, resource requests, strategic development, and leadership for the on-site team.
  • Manage the infrastructure and resources of CUE and JWL on-site, including classrooms facilities, technology, stationery, funds, and any project equipment

Qualifications and experience

  • A university degree in Education, Social Sciences or related field
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
  • Demonstrable efficiency in mobile/email communication
  • Flexible and lateral thinking with demonstrable, proactive problem solving skills
  • Creative thinking with ability to design highly innovative education and community engagement programs
  • Experience in project planning, reporting and budgeting
  • Professional experience in a multicultural environment
  • Compassion for refugees and displaced people, a motivation to serve, and (desirable) experience of working in the context of social justice
  • Multiple time zones require flexibility in work hours (including evenings and weekends)
  • Excellent proficiency with computer software and internet resources
