University of San Diego researchers talk to CUE students about Women Peace Makers

Andrew Blum, Executive Director at the Joan B. Kroc Institute for Peace and Justice at University of San Diego, visited Catholic University in Erbil today.

He was accompanied by a colleague Jennifer Freeman, Senior Program Officer, who gave a lecture on Women’s Roles in Building Peace and spoke to our students about their new Women Peace Makers program, a unique fellowship for peacebuilders, focused on strengthening and improving peace efforts around the world.

Students learned about heroic work of such women as Hamsatu Allamin in Nigeria and Margaret Arach Orech in Uganda and were encouraged to think of what Iraqi women can do to spark peace in our country.

The University of San Diego is a private Roman Catholic university in San Diego, California, United States.
