The Catholic University in Erbil, with the generous support of the U.S. Department of State’s Near Eastern Affairs’ Bureau (NEA/AC), is dedicated to offering professional training, learning, and development opportunities to those who intend but did not have the chance to boost their skills as well as to achieve their personal, economic, and social advancement.


The objective is to give quality occupational education and training in conformity to the demands of the work market, to add eligible skills among youth and grownups, and to boost the development of Kurdistan/Iraq economy. The CUE would certainly attain its goal with mixed learning technique on the viewpoint of open as well as distance learning. It will certainly offer vertical as well as horizontal mobility possibilities for students which cause advancement and chances in the world of work.

Program/ Course Objectives:

Upon completion of the certificate course in the Basics of Management, students will be able to:


  1. Identify management theories and concepts;
  2. Differentiate managerial practices across settings, organizations, disciplines and systems;
  3. Identify cultural strengths and differences through a management framework;
  4. Develop managerial skills based on personal strengths and professional interests; and
  5. Manage and lead individuals in teamwork exercises.

Program/Course Learning Outcomes:

Upon completion of this concentration program students should be able to:


  1. Demonstrate the fundamental knowledge and application of management concepts and approaches including the four managerial functions of planning, organizing, leading, and controlling organizational resources.
  2. Apply tools and techniques for management decision making.
  3. Identify and apply ethical principles in management decision making.
  4. Locate, retrieve, evaluate, organize, and analyze information for management/leadership decision making.
  5. Construct and deliver oral and/or written analysis of business scenarios.
  6. Work with and/or lead a diverse team toward goal accomplishment.
