Program/ Course Objectives:

Upon completion of the certificate course in the Basics of Management, students will be able to:

 

  1. Identify management theories and concepts;
  2. Differentiate managerial practices across settings, organizations, disciplines and systems;
  3. Identify cultural strengths and differences through a management framework;
  4. Develop managerial skills based on personal strengths and professional interests; and
  5. Manage and lead individuals in teamwork exercises.

Program/Course Learning Outcomes:

Upon completion of this concentration program students should be able to:

 

  1. Demonstrate the fundamental knowledge and application of management concepts and approaches including the four managerial functions of planning, organizing, leading, and controlling organizational resources.
  2. Apply tools and techniques for management decision making.
  3. Identify and apply ethical principles in management decision making.
  4. Locate, retrieve, evaluate, organize, and analyze information for management/leadership decision making.
  5. Construct and deliver oral and/or written analysis of business scenarios.
  6. Work with and/or lead a diverse team toward goal accomplishment.
