Program/ Course Objectives:
Upon completion of the certificate course in the Basics of Management, students will be able to:
- Identify management theories and concepts;
- Differentiate managerial practices across settings, organizations, disciplines and systems;
- Identify cultural strengths and differences through a management framework;
- Develop managerial skills based on personal strengths and professional interests; and
- Manage and lead individuals in teamwork exercises.
Program/Course Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of this concentration program students should be able to:
- Demonstrate the fundamental knowledge and application of management concepts and approaches including the four managerial functions of planning, organizing, leading, and controlling organizational resources.
- Apply tools and techniques for management decision making.
- Identify and apply ethical principles in management decision making.
- Locate, retrieve, evaluate, organize, and analyze information for management/leadership decision making.
- Construct and deliver oral and/or written analysis of business scenarios.
- Work with and/or lead a diverse team toward goal accomplishment.
