In-Country Scholarship Programme “Prospects for Peace through Education in Iraq”
The new In-Country Scholarship Programme “Prospects for Peace through Education in Iraq” supports high school graduates to pursue a bachelor’s degree. The programme will help the scholars to finish their studies successfully, qualify them for the job market, and offer opportunities for students to meet and connect, e.g. by organizing sports activities.
The target group for scholarships are highly qualified high school graduates who are facing socioeconomic barriers in their access to higher education, especially applicants from ethnic and/or religious minority groups, refugees, returnees and IDPs. 50% of the scholarships will be awarded to women.
Scholarships are granted for 4-year Bachelor studies in the fields of agriculture/food processing, environmental sciences, information and communication technology, business administration as well as sciences in the medical field at participating universities. At the Catholic University of Erbil, scholarships are offered in the following degree programmes: “Information Technology” and “Computer Science”.
The programme is commissioned and funded by the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and implemented by GIZ in partnership with the DAAD.
