 Job Summary

The pharmacy lab assistant should support the daily operations of the pharmacy laboratory by preparing materials, maintaining equipment, assisting students or staff during practical sessions, and ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.

Qualifications Required

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy.

Experience

  • Prior experience in a pharmacology laboratory setting is preferred.
  • Familiarity with pharmacy-related experiments and procedures is an advantage.

Skills

  • Knowledge of laboratory techniques and equipment.
  • Effective communication in English and teamwork abilities.
  • Basic computer skills (e.g., MS Office, inventory software).

Key Responsibilities

Laboratory Operations

  • Preparing chemicals, reagents, and materials required for practical experiments or research projects.
  • Set up and calibrate laboratory instruments and equipment (e.g., balances, spectrophotometers, pH meters).

Assistance During Lab Sessions

  • Guiding students on proper lab techniques and safety procedures.
  • Monitoring lab activities to ensure compliance with safety protocols.

Maintenance and Safety

  • Maintaining cleanliness and organization of the laboratory, including proper labelling and storage of chemicals.
  • Maintaining records of experiments, equipment usage, and incidents.

Inventory Management

  • Monitoring stock levels of chemicals, reagents, glassware, and other lab supplies.
  • Order and restock materials as needed, maintaining accurate records.
