About the Research Center

The primary role of the Research Center at CUE is to support and elevate research efforts by faculty and staff. This support is multi-faceted, encompassing ongoing professional development, personalized one-on-one mentoring, and the identification and sharing of critical resources. Furthermore, the Center provides essential guidelines to researchers across the entire research lifecycle, including generating ideas, choosing topics, designing studies, collecting and structuring data, and ultimately, publishing their work.

Research Support and Institutional Development

To strengthen institutional research output, the Center maintains a comprehensive record of all past, current, and future publications and uses this data to strategically identify departments requiring additional support. This proactive approach ensures quality research is encouraged and sustained through targeted support. Crucially, the Research Center also engages directly with each department to collaboratively set specific research goals for the academic year and outline the concrete steps required for their accomplishment.

Research Monitoring and Quality Assurance

To maintain quality control and facilitate timely progress, the Research Center is also responsible for tracking research currently under development, performing pre-submission manuscript reviews, and providing constructive feedback as necessary.

Mission

The mission of the Research Center is promoting high-quality publications across all departments of the Catholic University in Erbil. In addition, the Center aims to support faculty and set up practices that enhance the publishing process, boosting both the international and local profiles of our scholars, as well as strengthening the reputation of the Catholic University in Erbil.

The Center aims to foster a research-friendly environment through:

  • Organizing workshops, seminars, and lectures on publishing practices and ethical research.
  • Providing individualized mentoring and one-on-one guidance throughout the publication process.
  • Offering advice on selecting suitable journals and navigating peer review.
  • Establishing peer-review circles or editorial support within the university to improve manuscript quality.

These mechanisms are designed to encourage and support scholars, ensuring they have the guidance, resources, and environment needed to succeed in publishing high-quality manuscripts.
