CUE Student, Adeeba Murad, a Keynote Speaker at the “Yazidi Genocide Commemoration”

On August 3rd, 2023, CUE student, Ms. Adeeba Murad, participated  as a keynote speaker in the Ninth Commemorative event for the Yazidi Genocide”.  It was organized by Yazda, the worldwide official agency for Yazidis.

Adeeba is a Yazidi survivor who was held captive for 5 years; she is now a speaker for Yazidis rights and member of Yazda’s Yazidi Survivors Network (YSN). 

The event was held in Erbil under the patronage and presence of H. E. Mr. Nechirvan Barzani, President of the Kurdistan Region. President Barzani established the Yazidi rescue office in 2014 to find and return the missing Yazidi women and children after their abduction by ISIS in 2014 and thereafter.

At CUE, we support Adeeba and all Yazidi survivors and Yazidis, and we seek to offer them educational opportunities to resume their academic studies to become future leaders and builders of their societies and communities. 

Adeeba is studying International Relations and is supported by the Italian Bishops’ Conference scholarship program.
