CUE Second Batch Graduation Ceremony

On September 29, 2022, The Catholic University in Erbil – CUE, celebrated the graduation of 50 of its students of the class of 2021-2022 in a huge ceremony held at the campus.

The ceremony was attended by the university Chairman of the Board of Trustees and Chancellor, His Grace Archbishop Bashar Matti Warda, and the presence of His Beatitude and Eminence Chaldean Patriarch Cardinal Luis Sako, and His Excellency Archbishop Mitja Leskovar Papal Nuncio. 

Furthermore, the ceremony was attended by KRG ministers, KRG representatives, government officials, the university’s Board of trustees, faculty members, and graduates’ families

During the ceremony, 50 degrees were awarded to the students for three major departments including; Information Technology, Accounting, and English Language.

The ceremony started with a speech from His Grace Archbishop Bashar Matti Warda, who gave words of thanks to the faculty and families who supported the students in their educational journey at CUE. H.G. stated that: “We are divinely graced at the university with an opportunity to reach out for cultural enrichment, rapprochement, debate, coexistence, and removing the common words of the world which are exclusion, hatred, and war”.

The speech of Archbishop Warda was followed by an address by His Beatitude and Eminence Chaldean Patriarch Cardinal Luis Sako, who expressed his gratitude to see new students graduating with high degrees; H.E. said in his speech: The role of the university is not only to give better job opportunities but also to training students on openness, respect for diversity and pluralism and the consolidation of coexistence”.

During the graduation ceremony, Professor Dr. Nazar Shabila was announced as the new President and Vice-Chancellor of CUE. He delivered a speech and declared the degrees for the graduates. Moreover, the top students were awarded during the ceremony.

At the end of the ceremony, the speech of graduating students was presented by Saad Ghazalah, who said that the Catholic University in Erbil and all its benefactors helped him to continue his university education. He talked in his speech about the challenges and difficulties he went through with his family and how the scholarship from CUE changed his life forever.
