The Women Empowerment Corner and the Social Cohesion Office at CUE organized a seminar titled “Stop Waiting – Start Building,” delivered by guest speaker Ms. Mahnaz Aqrawi, an HR professional, career development trainer, and youth empowerment advocate.

Held on Wednesday, 14 October 2026, at the CUE Library Seminar Hall, the seminar focused on career development and the importance of taking proactive steps towards professional growth. Ms. Aqrawi explored the concept of the “waiting trap,” encouraging students to develop their skills, gain practical experience, build professional networks, strengthen their personal brands, and create opportunities for themselves.

The seminar aimed to encourage students to take ownership of their career development before graduation. Recognizing that the transition from university to employment requires more than academic qualifications, the session highlighted practical ways for students to strengthen their employability and prepare for the job market while still pursuing their studies. The central message was clear: rather than waiting for the perfect opportunity, students should take consistent, purposeful steps towards their career goals by developing relevant skills, gaining experience, building professional relationships, establishing a strong professional identity, and creating opportunities for growth.

A key feature of the seminar was its practical, action-oriented approach, emphasizing that students can begin shaping their professional futures well before graduation. A question-and-answer session provided an opportunity for further discussion, while post-seminar coffee and refreshments encouraged informal interaction and networking with the speaker.

The seminar supported CUE’s commitment to enhancing student employability and confidence while connecting students with experienced professionals and perspectives beyond the classroom.
