Advancing Student Success Through CUE’s English Enhancement Course

The Catholic University in Erbil conducts a 96-hour English Enhancement Course, which is implemented in collaboration with AMIDEAST Iraq, funded by the U. S. Department of State NEA/AC. The English program is designed to strengthen students’ skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing while building their confidence in using English in both academic and everyday contexts.

Students are placed into appropriate levels based on placement and achievement tests, ensuring that instruction is tailored to their needs. Delivered according to international standards, the course incorporates interactive activities, group discussions, and continuous assessments that help students make meaningful progress throughout the 96 hours of instruction.

The English Enhancement Course plays a vital role in preparing CUE students for their university studies and enhancing their communication skills for future professional opportunities. Through this initiative, CUE reinforces its commitment to high-quality education and to empowering students with strong language competencies for success in a globalized world.

CUE students have given positive feedback regarding the English course, mentioning that they have improved and the lecturers are very considerate with all the students’ levels and mistakes. The English language is an international language and is spoken around the world either as a second language or as a first language. Furthermore, the Catholic University always puts efforts into providing courses and other methods to enhance the English language.
