AMIDEAST Iraq Launches TOEIC Program at CUE to Strengthen Students’ Career-Ready English Skills

AMIDEAST Iraq is implementing the TOEIC Program, an internationally recognized English assessment pathway created by ETS, with funding from the U.S. Department of State NEA/AC at CUE. This program continues to improve students’ workplace communication skills and career readiness. CUE’s continuous dedication to providing students with language proficiency that satisfies international professional standards is shown in this project.

Earlier this academic year, CUE students completed the TOEIC MSA test, which measures listening, reading, and workplace English proficiency. Based on their performance, students were divided into four groups: A, B, C, and D, according to their respective levels, enabling the university to provide tailored instruction that aligns with each student’s learning needs.

Students in Groups C and D were selected to participate directly in a 30-hour TOEIC Test Preparation Course, designed to strengthen the specific skills required for the full TOEIC 4-Skills Test (listening, reading, speaking, and writing). These sessions offer structured practice, real-life communication exercises, and targeted feedback to build confidence and improve test readiness.

Meanwhile, students in Groups A and B will first take a 30-hour English Supplementary Course to strengthen their foundational language skills. Once they complete this phase, they will proceed to the 30-hour TOEIC Test Preparation Course, ensuring a gradual and effective learning progression that supports long-term development and improved exam outcomes.

Through this program, CUE continues to invest in high-quality language enhancement initiatives that support students’ academic success, improve their employability, and prepare them for professional environments that require strong English communication skills.
