Architecture Department Students Present their Final Projects for this Academic Year

Students at the Architecture Department of the Catholic University in Erbil CUE presented their final year projects for the 2nd and 3rd year stages on 18th of May 2023. They would prepare physical models, technical drawings, and renderings to showcase their designs. These
presentations took place in the designated architecture studios within the department.
Presentations exhibit their design concepts, methodologies, and the underlying principles behind their projects.
The 2nd year students were asked to design secondary school with the full architectural details required, on actual existing sites in the city of Erbil which gives the students the opportunity to relate their designs and imagination to reality. Moreover, 3rd year students were asked to design a 5-star hotel project also to be depicting all the required facilities, circulation, room varieties and types…etc.

The jury members, Dr. Siba Taha, Dr. Malik Kadifa, and Mr. Zaid Khammo, consisting of faculty members and practicing architects, assessed the projects based on various criteria, including creativity, functionality, technical expertise, and adherence to design principles and building regulations.
In addition to the physical presentations, students were required to submit comprehensive project documentation. This documentation usually includes architectural drawings, plans, elevations, sections, and details. It also encompassed explanatory texts, design process descriptions, site analyses, research findings, and any other relevant information. These documents provided a holistic view of the project and allowed the jury to evaluate the work more thoroughly.
