CUE Becomes First University in Iraq to Administer TOEIC Test

In partnership with AMIDEAST Iraq, CUE proudly celebrated the successful completion of the TOEIC program and the successful administration of the TOEIC test for the first time in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.

The Test of English for International Communication (TOEIC) is designed for non-native English speakers. It helps participants develop the language skills needed for effective workplace communication and is widely recognized by companies, educational institutions, and government organizations around the world.

Speaking during the ceremony, Ms. Vida Hanna, Chief of Planning and Effectiveness, highlighted the significance of this milestone, saying: “The cohort sitting before us is the first cohort in Iraq to receive a TOEIC certificate. And the Catholic University in Erbil is the first university in this country to administer it – right here, in our own labs.”

Senior students at CUE have demonstrated remarkable enthusiasm for the TOEIC program, reflecting their commitment to enhancing their English language proficiency and career readiness.

Highlighting the significance of the initiative, Mr. Safin Mohammed, English Language Program and Training Coordinator and Instructor at AMIDEAST, addressed the participants, saying: “We delivered the TOEIC program to bright minds, to you, senior students at CUE.”

 He also encouraged the students as they prepare for their future careers, “you are a living testimony that challenges can always be transformed—when looked at as opportunities to grow.”
