CUE Celebrates World Pharmacists Day 2025 with Student-Led Poster Presentation and Awareness Session

The Catholic University in Erbil (CUE) joined the global celebration of World Pharmacists Day 2025 under the theme “Think Health, Think Pharmacists”, through a dynamic poster presentation and awareness session organized by the College of Pharmacy on Thursday, September 25, 2025.

The event, held at the CUE New Building Portico, highlighted the essential role of pharmacists in promoting community health and advancing inter-professional healthcare.

A Celebration of Knowledge and Service

The ceremony opened with an inaugural address by Dr. Nazar Shabila, President of CUE, who praised the students’ efforts in bridging classroom learning with real-world health education. “Today’s celebration demonstrates how our pharmacy students are ready to lead in advancing community health and patient care,” he said.

Following the welcome remarks by Dr. Gnanavel Velu, Dean of the College of Pharmacy, and words from Dr. Karam Shamasha, Pro-Vost of CUE, attendees explored 13 creative posters presented by Stage III and Stage IV Pharmacy students. The displays covered a range of public health topics designed to raise awareness among peers and faculty from across departments.

Engagement and Impact

The event fostered active engagement between students and faculty, showcasing CUE’s commitment to experiential learning and collaboration. Stage II students led interactive awareness activities, culminating in a celebratory cake-cutting ceremony that marked the success of the day.

Reflecting on the occasion, Dr. Gnanavel Velu emphasized, “World Pharmacists Day is a reminder of our shared responsibility to educate, innovate, and serve society through the profession of pharmacy.”

Fostering Future Health Leaders

The initiative not only strengthened students’ communication and research skills but also deepened the university community’s appreciation for the pharmacist’s contribution to public health. The College of Pharmacy plans to continue its outreach through upcoming community health screening campaigns in the Fall and Spring semesters.

Acknowledgement

The College of Pharmacy extended its appreciation to Dr. Nazar Shabila, CUE management, faculty members, lab assistants, and all participating students for making the World Pharmacists Day 2025 celebration a memorable success.
