CUE Faculty Member Presides Over MA Viva at Salahaddin University–Erbil

Prof. Dr. Anis Behnam Haddad, Head of the English Language Department at the Catholic University in Erbil, presided over an MA Viva session at Salahaddin University–Erbil on 30 October 2025. His participation reflects CUE’s continued academic collaboration with leading institutions in the Kurdistan Region and its commitment to advancing scholarly excellence in the field of English language studies.
The thesis, presented by Ms. Elaf Abdullah, examined teacher autonomy in EFL syllabus design, drawing on insights from the Bologna Process as implemented at Salahaddin University. The research explored how autonomy influences curriculum development, instructional decision-making, and the alignment of teaching practices with modern higher-education standards.

Prof. Dr. Anis’ role in leading the session highlights the department’s active engagement in regional academic dialogues and its support for research that contributes to improving the quality of English language education. The Viva offered an important platform for discussing contemporary approaches to syllabus design, the evolving responsibilities of educators, and the broader impact of Bologna-aligned reforms on teaching and learning.
