CUE Hosts KRI-Wide Workshop on Reforming English Language Degree Programs
On December 14, 2025, the Catholic University in Erbil (CUE) hosted a workshop titled “Standardizing and Reforming English Language Degree Programs in English Language Departments at the Universities of the Kurdistan Region.” The workshop was organized by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq and brought together academic experts and university representatives from across the Kurdistan Region.

The event provided a platform for dialogue on strengthening English language degree programs through shared academic standards, curriculum development, and the exchange of best practices. Participants engaged in discussions focused on aligning program structures, improving learning outcomes, and ensuring consistency in academic quality across higher education institutions.

Throughout the workshop, attendees explored approaches to modernizing curricula, integrating effective teaching methodologies, and responding to the evolving needs of students and the labor market. The discussions emphasized collaboration among universities as a key driver for sustainable academic reform and quality assurance.

By hosting this regional initiative, CUE reaffirmed its commitment to academic excellence and to supporting sector-wide efforts led by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The workshop highlighted the importance of coordinated reform in enhancing English language education and advancing higher education standards across the Kurdistan Region.
