In recent years, digital violence has been on the rise. Accordingly, as part of the 16 Days of Activism to End Violence Against Women and Girls, the United Nations themed this year’s campaign around “Unite to End All Forms of Digital Violence Against Women and Girls.” In line with this global initiative, CUE considered it essential to address this issue and to raise awareness about the risks, manifestations, and consequences of digital violence.

The seminar, led by Dr. Bewar Lateef, social cohesion officer and lecturer in the International Relations and Diplomacy department, along with two students from the same department, demonstrated different forms of digital violence against women and girls. The presentation emphasized the importance of awareness in the context of digital activism, examined real life cases forms of digital violence, and outlined key safety and protection measures.

Attendees developed an improved ability to identify various forms of digital violence and recurring patterns, as well as to understand practical prevention and protection measures. This was further reinforced by highlighting the key resources and strategies aimed at safeguarding individuals against digital violence.

CUE always brings up important topics to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to engage with these matters critically and thoughtfully. By raising awareness on crucial matters, we hope to inspire action and drive change within our community and beyond.
