CUE Hosts the Fourth Scientific Conference on Campus
The Catholic University in Erbil, in collaboration with Hawler Medical University and the Center for Research and Education in Women’s health, held the Fourth Scientific Conference on Women’s Health. The conference consisted of a 3-day program, where several doctors, researchers, and experts spoke about a variety of topics concerning women’s health and wellness. Numerous subjects and issues were raised during the conference, such as Women’s legal rights, the role of social media and AI in women’s health, ethical decisions in gynecology, female homicide victims, and more.
Speaking about the importance of this conference, CUE President, Dr. Nazar Shabila stated “At CUE we believe in empowerment of women…So it is very important that CUE participated in organizing this conference…”. Dr. Nazar also highlighted the participation of many researchers and experts from inside and outside the Kurdistan Region and Iraq.
During the opening remarks, the President of Hawler Medical University, Professor Dr. Nooraddin Ismail Alla Werdi, stated ” Women’s health, as we all know, is not merely a specialized branch of medicine but a cornerstone of global health. When women thrive, families flourish, and societies prosper… Together, we can dismantle barriers to access, develop equitable healthcare strategies, and leverage cutting-edge technology to deliver personalized and preventive care.
Moreover, Assist. Prof. Dr. Sahar M. Zaki, the Director of the Center of Research and Education in Women’s Health (CREWH) noted “The significant increase in submitted abstracts since the first conference highlights the growing academic focus on women’s health. CREWH believes that healthy women are essential for a healthy society, as they are key to the well-being of families and communities.This conference aims to inspire future research and action to enhance women’s health in the Kurdistan region and Iraq”.
Following the opening remarks, medical doctors, experts, researchers and scholars delivered their research papers concerning different subject areas that affect women’s health especially focusing on the local communities.
