CUE signs MoU with the Religious Freedom Institute (RFI)
On February 19th, 2022, the Catholic University in Erbil (CUE) and Religious Freedom Institute (RFI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding.
The RFI delegation, headed by Dr. David Trimble, Religious Freedom Institute’s Vice President for Public Policy and Director of Center for Religious Freedom Education, and Mr. Jeremy Parker, Senior Program Officer and the Director of Middle East Action Team at RFI, were welcomed by H.G. Archbishop Bashar Warda, the Chancellor and Head of Board of Trustees of CUE, accompanied by Rev. Fr. Dankha Joola, the Executive Vice-Chancellor for Administration, Mrs. Vida Hanna, the Director of Public and International Relations, and Mr. Namir Jibrail, MEAL Coordinator.
The purpose of this MoU is to collaborate in defending and advancing a robust commitment to the free exercise of religion for all. The collaboration aims to support the education and development of CUE students and graduates. Further, the two institutes will work together to develop and integrate courses into the curriculum to promote religious freedom and divinity in the community.
Furthermore, as part of the MOU, RFI provided full scholarships to 10 newly enrolled students at CUE to support students’ education and development.
