CUE Students Experience an Unforgettable Winter Trip to Korek Mountain

Stemmed from the importance of extracurricular activities and in line with CUE’s core values, the Student Life Office (SLO) at the Catholic University in Erbil organized a trip to Korek Mountain on January 21, 2026. The journey began with a road trip to the mountain and a ride on the Teleferik, offering students and staff breathtaking views of the scenic, snow-covered landscape.

Upon arrival, the students were welcomed at the Radisson Blu Resort Hotel on Korek Mountain for a delightful breakfast, followed by a guided tour of the hotel and its available facilities.

After some free time, everyone gathered outside to build snowmen and enjoy the snow, creating lasting memories in this picturesque setting. The trip concluded with a visit to Shaqlawa Bazaar, where students explored the shops, experienced local food, and learned about the history and culture of the city while interacting with residents to better understand their lifestyle.

Activities like this foster communication among students and their local communities, providing opportunities to build new friendships and strengthen social connections.
