CUE’s participation in the first virtual International Research Conference

The MIT- World Peace University, Catholic University in Erbil, Helwan University, and The Climate Reality Project have conducted the first virtual International Research Conference in partnership with from 18nd-19th May 2022.  
The conference was graced by Dr. R. M. Chitnis, Vice-Chancellor, MIT-World Peace University, Dr. P Subbarao, Head, Division II, Dr. Shalini Sharma–Dean, School of Economics & School of Public Policy, Dr. R. Jayaraj, HoS, School of Economics, all teaching faculty members. Over 500 people attended and participated in the conference, including eminent experts and speakers, presenters of research papers, students from current batches, Golden Scholar batch & Alumni of the School of Economics. 
The conference comprised 6 tracks, 4 themes and 40 sessions, including12 expert technical sessions by eminent guest speakers from different areas of Circular Economy and Sustainable Economy, and leaders from different business verticals. The attendees of the conference benefited in many ways from the discussion sessions on crucial topics by keynote speakers and eminent personalities from industry, academia, and renowned authors.
The conference started with the Welcome Address by Dr. P Subbarao, where Sir addressed the audience with the importance of Sustainable Growth as a factor in life, business and the economy. Dr. R. Jayaraj underlined the details of the conduct of a conference on such a wide scale. 
The Inaugural session was graced with the presence of Mr. Aditya Pundir, Country Manager, The Climate Reality Project India and Prof, Ali Abd El-Aty, Helwan University, Egypt. Followed by the Inaugural session, the first session of the conference was hosted with the theme topic The State, Society and Sustainable Circular Economy. The session was graced by the presence of Prof. Vinish Kathuria, Professor, IIT Bombay who presented his views on the role of State and Society to achieve a Sustainable Circular Economy which was followed by the presentation of research papers. The last session was on the theme Circularity & Green industry practices, and it was graced by the expert speaker Prof. Binay Jena, Professor, NIFT Bhubaneswar. 
On the 2nd day of the conference, the first session was on the theme Circular Economy and Sustainable Finance, and it was graced by the expert speaker Prof. Joji Rao, Professor, O.P Jindal University which was followed by the presentation of research papers.
The last session of the day was on the theme Circular Economy- Challenges and Opportunities, and it was graced by the expert speaker Mr. Prafulla Dhal, GM & Head CSR, JK Paper Mills Ltd which was followed by the presentation of research papers.  The two-day virtual International Conference on Circular Economy was concluded with the valedictory session. 
Dr. Riadh Francis, President & Vice-Chancellor, Catholic University in Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq explained the vision and mission of the Catholic University in Erbil and the present position and the future goals of the university in brief and Prof. Satya Subrahmanyam, Professor & Director, Department of Accounting, Catholic University in Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq thanked the MIT World Peace University for accepting the Catholic University as partner into the Conference and emphasized on the importance of Circular Economy and the sustainability. 
The Concluding Remarks were given by Dr. Jayraj R. HoS, School of Economics followed by a Vote of Thanks by Dr. Agamoni Majumder, Assistant Professor, School of Economics.

It is informed in the conference that the selected research papers will be published in Scopus indexed Emerald journal – “Management of Environmental Quality” with a high Impact factor of 4.21.
