The Catholic University in Erbil welcomed students, educators, and civil society partners to its auditorium on July 2 of this year for the graduation ceremony of Adyan Foundation’s “Education for Active Citizenship and Inclusiveness” project. The event celebrated the achievements of high school students who successfully completed the program, marking the conclusion of a youth-focused initiative that fosters civic engagement and social responsibility.

A Platform for Civic Growth
Organized by Adyan Foundation and hosted by CUE, the event brought together around 150 participants to recognize young people committed to becoming active citizens in their communities. The ceremony featured remarks, certificate distribution, and moments of reflection on the impact of the project.
Although this event marked the formal closing of the project, it also served a broader purpose—reinforcing CUE’s role as a community-engaged institution. By opening its campus to such initiatives, CUE continues to contribute to social development, inclusivity, and youth empowerment.
Strengthening Community Ties
This was the second time CUE has hosted an Adyan Foundation initiative, reinforcing an ongoing collaboration between the two institutions. While CUE served primarily as the host for the event, the partnership also increased public exposure to the university’s campus and values—particularly its commitment to dialogue, culture-sharing, and social engagement.

Looking Ahead
The Education for Active Citizenship and Inclusiveness project concluded with this graduation, but its impact will continue through the students who took part. As part of its mission to support initiatives that foster social development, inclusivity, and youth empowerment in the larger community, CUE hosted this event by the Adyan Foundation.
