Fast-Growing Economies in the World and Challenges

On March 26, 2022, the Quality Assurance at the Catholic University in Erbil (CUE) organized a seminar entitled “Fast-Growing Economies in the World and Challenges,” presented by Prof. Dr. Uma Shankar, Accounting Department, College of Economics and International Relations.

The seminar was attended by CUE’s President, Asst. Prof. Dr. Riadh Francis and the Vice-President for Academic Affairs, Asst. Prof. Dr. Iqbal Gorgis and CUE’s academic staff.

During the seminar, Prof. Dr. Uma Shankar discussed emerging economies. The emphasis was on Asian economies (China, India, and The Association of Southeast Asian Nations – ASEAN) current economic status, comparing and contrasting emerging economies (Developing economy) GDP growth rates, per capita and purchasing power parity with that of advanced economies and presented challenges in general, political and financial aspects of emerging countries,

Prof, Dr. Uma Shankar presented sufficient source of data that economic growth is faster in Asian countries in the present century due to a stable political system, taking strategic decisions on international issues and international trade, developing infrastructure in all sectors of the economy, strengthening the financial system, minimizing inflation and poverty, increasing literacy, employment, technology inventions, etc.

At the end of the seminar, Prof. Dr. Uma Shankar answered all the raised questions by the attendees. Quality Assurance Awarded Prof. Dr. Uma Shankar a certificate of appreciation for his diligent work and the remarkable information provided to the CUE faculty.
