Green Concrete

On Wednesday, 13th December 2021, Quality Assurance (QA) at the Catholic University in Erbil organized a “Green Concrete” seminar presented by Assistant Prof. Dr. Maher Al-Sammani, Civil Department.

In the seminar, the presenter explained green concrete and how it was developed. Also, he pointed out that cement and concrete factories impact the environment significantly due to the large amounts of cement and concrete produced. Hence, he showed a case of how the green concert could reduce this impact with a bit of change in the manufacturing Materials, which can replace the cement content either partially or fully manufacturing process. There are two types of alternatives available for cement, one is usually derived from industrial waste, and the second is from agricultural waste. Recycled aggregates are generated from concrete demolition waste.

In the end, Quality Assurance (QA) awarded a certificate of appreciation to Dr. Maher Al-Sammani for his efforts and the valuable information to the audience.
