Ministry of Higher Education conducted “Kazi Forum for Women in Academia” at Sheraton Hotel

The event marked the first forum of its kind in the Kurdistan Region dedicated specifically to women in academia. Titled the “Kazi Forum,” it was organized in alignment with recent developments and in recognition of women’s evolving role in Rojava, highlighting their contributions to leadership, education, and social transformation.

The event was attended by a minister from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. Dr. Aram Muhammed Qadir delivered the keynote address. The program also featured three panel discussions focusing on women’s role in leadership within higher education institutions, women’s role in the education process and skills development, and women’s role in research and innovation.

This forum is more than crucial at this time since the symbol Kazi (Kezî) is deeply grounded in Kurdish cultural identity and the dignity of women. It has transitioned from street activism and social media into academic and policy arenas, following the launch of the “Kazi Forum for Women in Academia” by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research of the Kurdistan Region across universities and research institutions throughout the Kurdistan Region.
