Planting Hope for Education in IDPs

On Thursday 8th of December 2016, a celebration was hosted by Catholic University in Erbil for the success of 30 students who participated in 6 months training courses for both English Language and Computer Skills. The students were all internally displaced students who fled their hometowns in Nineveh Plain and were deprived from their education. The AVSI organization offered this course for the internally displaced people (IDPs) with the cooperation of Catholic University in Erbil. In addition to students, the AVSI representatives, the CUE Chancellor, and their teachers were present to share students’ happiness.

This community development program was a chance for the internally displaced students to grow in different areas including; social, personal, communication and cognitive skills. They received the support needed to improve their conditions. They had access to professional training in their English Language and Computer Skills courses.
As they received their certificates, they shared their excitement to complete their education. And this step planted a hope for a better life in them.
