Ribbon Cutting Ceremony For 2 New IT labs

On Wednesday 18 September 2019 the Catholic University in Erbil (CUE) held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for opening two new IT laboratories for the departments of Architecture Engineering and Civil Engineering at the university.

The opening ceremony was attended by the US Ambassador in Baghdad Matthew Tueller, the Consul General in Erbil Steve Fagin, the USAID special Representative for Minority Assistance Programs Max Primorace, his Grace Archbishop Bashar Matti Warda in his capacity as Head of the board of trustee of Catholic University in Erbil, local government officials, NGO representatives in Ankawa and academia.

The ceremony began with a speech by the Chancellor and President of the CUE Dr Sabah Almaleh . This was followed by a speech by His Grace Archbishop Bashar Matti Warda and His Excellency Ambassador Matthew Tueller. Ambassador Tueller expressed his happiness to attend the opening ceremony and stressed the importance of US aid in supporting the educational institutions in Iraq and KR and the support made by the USAID for the reconstruction of historical places in Erbil.

This was followed by a tour by the delegation to the premises of the university including the two laboratories that are supplied with up-to-date equipment that would serve the teaching and learning needs of both students and the teaching staff.

The CUE in Erbil would like to express its thanks and appreciation to the USAID / OTO and ICRI-Ta’afi for their tremendous support that would help boost the mission of the university to deliver up-to-date and transparent education to all students regardless of their faith, colour, and social background.
