Scientific Visit of Architectural Department to Alqosh town

The architectural department at CUE conducted a scientific visit to Alqosh town on Wednesday, 12 Oct. 2022 with 2nd and 3rd stage students. The visit was headed by the Asst. Prof. Dr. Iqbal N. Gorgis (acting as head of architectural department) and lecturers of Architectural Design subject; Dr. Siba, Dr. Malik and Mr. Petros Khammo.
A tour for many traditional Buildings with different levels and different building materials, as Saint Hanna Orphanage for girls runs by Chaldean sisters, built on steeply mountain. As well as many buildings like Alqosh Museum, Monastery of Al-Fadi, Carpentry factory, and other traditional houses in Alqosh.
The main aim for this scientific visit was to show the construction with steep sites. Hence the visit helped the students link the theoretical information learned in the classrooms with the practical experience which is needed on any construction site. All the information the students received is directly related to three subjects, namely Architectural Design I (2nd year), Architectural Design III for (3rd year) and Building materials (1st year).
