Seminar: World Mental Health Day

On October 10th, 2023, Under the Strengthening Institutional Capacity Project, funded by U.S. Department of State’s Near Eastern Affairs Bureau (NEA/AC), CUE’s Counseling Office, in collaboration with the Student Life Office, organized a seminar for raising awareness about Mental Health and Well-being. 

The seminar was delivered by Fr. Dr. Ephrem Azar. Throughout the seminar, Fr. Ephrem emphasized the importance of mental health for individuals and societies. Moreover, he highlighted the pillars of mental health such as “Identity and Belonging”, “Affection and Tenderness”, “Autonomy” and more. The presenter also highlighted five feelings or emotions that affect mental health such as “Rejection”, “Betrayal”, “Abandonment”, “Humiliation” and “Injustice”. Factors that also affect one’s mental health include frustration, conflict, anxiety and more. During the seminar, Fr. Afram explained how one’s upbringing throughout childhood affects the person later in adulthood.
