The Impact of the Characteristics of the Spatial Organization of Historic Castles on The Urban Development ‎Strategies for The Surrounding Areas

On Sunday, Oct 31, 2021, the Architecture Department at the Catholic University in Erbil organized a seminar titled “The Impact of the Characteristics of Spatial Organization of Historic Castles on The Urban Development ‎Strategies for The Surrounding Areas (Salah Al-Din Citadel in Cairo as a case study) ‎”.

The seminar was conducted by Mrs. Alhan Faris Ibrahim (Asst. Lect., In Architecture Department), which was attended by the President of CUE, Assist. Prof. Dr. Riadh Francis, the Vice-President of Academic Affairs, Asst. Prof. Dr. Iqbal Gorgis and CUE’s academic staff.

The seminar is extracted from a previously published paper by Mrs. Alhan, the study discussed the variables and elements of spatial organization, in addition to the concepts of urban development strategies for historical regions, also Mrs. Alhan explained The aim of the study which is to analyze the urban fabric of Salah Al-Din Citadel in Cairo and define indicators for the characteristics of the spatial organization using the Geographic Information Systems Program (GIS) and (Space Syntax) analysis.

 At the end of the seminar, the discussions and questions have been opened between Mrs. Alhan and the attendees regarding the seminar’s subject and the information that was explained during the seminar.
