Sureth Language Documentation Training Workshop

The Catholic University in Erbil in collaboration with Cambridge University-UK, Hadyab Society for Competencies (HSC) and Directorate General for Syriac Culture and Art (DGSCA) organized a two- day training workshop on “Sureth language documentation” which was held on 15-16 March 2019 at CUE Campus.

During the workshop prof. Geoffrey khan spoke about the importance of preserving records of the Sureth dialects of the villages. Prof. Geoffrey, and his PhD students trained the participants in the principles of language documentation,and explained how to transcribe spoken dialects and preserve records of them.
At the end of the workshop participants were awarded with certificates of participation.
