The Catholic University in Erbil Marks the 5th Founding Anniversary
The Catholic University in Erbil (CUE) celebrated on Tuesday, 8 December, 2020, the 5th anniversary of its founding.
The event was attended by His Grace Archbishop Bashar Matti Warda in his capacity as the head of the Board of Trustees of the university, Dr. Riadh Francis the university’s President and Vice Chancellor, member of the academic and admins staff in addition to students and alumni.
Since its founding on 8 December 2015 by his Grace Archbishop Warda, the Chancellor and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the CUE, the university has played an important role in introducing up-to-date teaching programmes, employing qualified teaching staff and embracing students from different social, ethnic and educational backgrounds in a bid to boost social integration regardless of race, faith, or ethnicity.
The CUE has also managed to establish partnerships with both local and prominent international universities such as Cambridge as well as catholic universities all over the world.
The ceremony began with a speech by His Grace Archbishop Warda. This was followed by a speech by Dr. Riadh Francis. In their speeches, both expressed their will and resolute to support and advance the vision and mission of the university, keep pace with the modern teaching and learning, and work to overcome challenges.
The event was concluded by a cake cutting ceremony followed by jubilations in which both students and staff took part.
